Occupational Therapist – mental health

We are currently supporting a specialist provider who support adults with learning disabilities and mental health presentations within residential settings. The service users may also present with challenging behaviour and communication difficulties.

This is a permanent, full time position. The successful Occupational Therapist will be expected to cover a North London or South East London patch. The client is able to consider band 5 and 6 (equivalent) applicants.

All applicants must have a relevant Occupational Therapy qualification and be registered with the HCPC.

As an Occupational Therapist, your responsibilities will include:

  • To manage a caseload of clients with complex needs
  • Conducting assessments, facilitating individual and group therapeutic activities, performing risk assessments
  • To play an active part in staff training alongside other professionals to promote best practice
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions and clinical decisions
  • Ensuring the physical and mental health needs of the service users are being considered at all times
  • Identifying occupational therapy goals using specialist assessments, including MOHO tools
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team whilst liaising effectively with other professionals and external agencies
  • Providing specialist occupational therapy reports and ensuring all records and data are maintained in timely manner in accordance with Professional and Hospital standards
