Occupational Therapist - London 

Shire are currently supporting a specialist London-based client with the recruitment of an Occupational Therapist. This exciting opportunity is based within a 25 bedded community-based hospital that supports adults with complex mental health presentations. The hospital provide 19 single bedrooms and 6 semi-independent apartments which allow the client to provide a step down service.
 
This is a full-time, permanent position £35,000 per year.
 
The role:
  • Designing, arranging and providing direct clinical care which encompasses Occupational Therapy assessment, treatment and management of patients with complex mental health needs who are detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).
  • Undertaking thorough assessments of care needs using evidence-based tools which lead to the development of detailed and relevant care plans
  • Involvement in planning, providing and evaluating therapeutic groups and activity programmes
  • Providing supervision, support and training to Occupational Therapy and support staff
  • Communicating and working effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Understanding and appropriately using positive risk taking to maximise therapeutic potential
  • Analysing and adapting environments to increase function and social participation

Occupational Therapists - Essex

Shire are currently supporting a client based in Essex with the recruitment of Occupational Therapists for permanent positions. This is an exciting opportunity to join an organisation whose goal is to ensure service users have access to tools and information which will allow them to live independently with an improved quality of life, to allow them to exercise choice and control of their own lives whilst focusing on dignity, safety and quality of life.

The client is able to consider Occupational Therapists with full time or part time availability although the minimum amount of hours required is approximately 20 hours per week. There are requirements in several teams which will cover different geographical patches. The teams are split into the following areas:


  • North Essex – Colchester and Clacton
  • West Essex – Harlow, Epping and Saffron Walden
  • South Essex – Basildon, Brentwood, Rochford and Castle Point
  • Mid – Chelmsford, Braintree, Maldon

Within each location, there are vacancies in the following teams:
  • Early intervention (adult) – this team focuses on prevention and aims to ensure service users are not admitted to hospital. Using knowledge of preventative techniques to foresee future needs and ensuring these are addressed as early as possible.
  • Ongoing support (adult) – this team supports service users who require long-term support and the Occupational Therapist would focus more on reablement to improve quality of life.
  • Learning Disabilities and Autism (adult)
  • Mental Health (adult)

The successful Occupational Therapists will have:
  • BSc in Occupational Therapy or Diploma of the College of Occupational Therapists
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • A full UK driving license with access to their own vehicle – due to the nature of the patches, the OT will be expected to work within a variety of location in any given week/day
  • An ability to work with a wide variety of people from various socio-economic backgrounds and ethnicities

About the role:

Adult CMHT – This will include assessment and therapeutic intervention for adult service users with moderate to severe mental illness.

Intellectual disabilities – This will include assessments and interventions on a 121 and group basis with adults who have dual diagnosis of a learning disability and mental health within a medium secure inpatient ward.
Cancer support – This team provides psychosocial support and brief intervention to patients with cancer diagnosis.
Relocation Support and contribution – An allowance will be provided to contribute to relocation. An example of what this can include is as follows:

$450 contributed to relocation support including administrative support to arrange an coordinate logical support for fright of personal belongings, travel to an within NZ, accommodation to and within NZ to the time of start date
$400 contributed to the assistance with professional registration
$300 contributed to the assistance with work permits/immigration
$100 contributed towards medical examinations (if required)
